This privacy policy applies to participants enrolled in an IRB-approved research study evaluating a text message–based AI chatbot, BrainCheck Connect, designed to support people living with dementia and their caregivers with daily care needs and questions.
Only individuals who have agreed to participate in this research study and have signed an IRB-approved informed consent form will receive study-related SMS messages. The first text message is sent only after consent has been obtained.

The research chatbot used in this study is self-hosted by BrainCheck Inc. Message data are processed only within BrainCheck’s research infrastructure. The study does not use commercially available large language models, and message content is not shared with external AI service providers for model training or commercial use.
Identifiable information (such as phone numbers) is accessible only to authorized members of the research team. At the conclusion of the study, identifiable information will be removed. Only de-identified message transcripts may be retained for research analysis and reporting.
Participation in SMS messaging is voluntary. Participants may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP. For assistance, participants may reply HELP. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier.
